Steve Plattenberger has been named the interim crew chief for R3 Motorsports and the team's No. 23 Chevrolet in the Nationwide Series effective immediately. He replaces John Quinn, who is no longer with the team.

Plattenberger, who has been the team's shop foreman since last season, has prior crew chief experience and brings more than two decades of knowledge to the team. He's led the efforts of drivers such as Robert Pressley, Stacy Compton, John Andretti and Jeff Fuller in the past. In 1995, he led Fuller to rookie of the year honors in the Nationwide Series.

The first race for Plattenberger on the pit box for R3 Motorsports will be the upcoming Bristol Motor Speedway event on March 20.
